Davyin's website revamp with Drupal 6, new content and jQuery eye candy
The shoemaker's son always goes barefoot
Every website has to adjust to its organization and as our brand image and positioning evolved, we felt previous website didn’t reflect our orientations and services with enough accuracy anymore. Although previous website was user friendly and fulfilled well its communication objectives, our online strategy grew beyond the scope of the functionalities it could sustain and time had come to upgrade. Being built in Drupal 5, we not only caught the opportunity to make a technological update to Drupal 6, but also redesigned our site’s look n’ feel and browsing scheme. Most importantly, we completely reworked our content base and expect it to reflect in our results on search engines and online marketing strategy.
Drupal 6
As we’re passionate for online technologies, we monitor with great attention the latest evolutions on the Open Source market and definitely couldn’t miss the major Drupal 6 release. In addition to updating our module base and theme system, we are able to make full use of the new great features Drupal 6 puts at our disposal. In particular, integration of a fully functional internationalization and localization framework gives us the ability to easily translate and manage our website in any language, with French and Chinese translations already under process. We are also able to benefit from the latest features provided by contributed modules to implement rich text editors, surveys, forms and many other features that enhance our site and make content updates a breeze.
jQuery
Perhaps one of the most significant update is the one of the JQuery JavaScript library combined to the new theme structure allowing easy addition of the latest JQuery plug-ins and effects to make our website more attractive and user-friendly. Updating to the newest JQuery version ensures our site stays search engine friendly as well as cross browser and platform compatible (Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, MS Internet Explorer 6, etc…).
Since we decided to go ahead with a global technological update, we seized the chance to rework our online visual identity along with our content.
We smoothened color patterns and simplified page layout to not only give us more freedom and flexibility adding various styles and pictures inside page content, but also enable us to bring more emphasis to particular pieces of content and deliver strong targeted messages. In conjunction to a new visual identity, our communication content materials have been greatly extended under various formats that we expect to be made more and more available through our website. In addition to a careful reorganization of every menu item and choice of vocabulary, our content base was extensively reworked to correspond better to what we currently offer to our customers.
What’s coming next?
To fully exploit this revamp in our long term online marketing strategy, we defined various steps and directions that we believe are important for our communication on the web. Here are some of the features that we prepare to release in the coming month:
- Multiple languages: Our Company having strong multilingual skills, we certainly feel that creating localized versions of our site is a way of putting forward our multicultural background. Therefore we plan to translate and adapt most of content to French and Chinese.
- Multi user blogging system: An essential component of our search engine optimization (SEO) and communication strategy. A multi user blog will enable us to express our opinion on various technical aspects and post information on the evolution of our company.
- Portfolio Gallery: With a growing number of works and projects, we wish to give a better overview of our references and the websites that we have built. Coupled to our case studies section, our visitors will be able to have a quick as well as thorough look at the projects we have carried.
Because online technologies change at a fast pace, we will keep our site updated and regularly publish news, new technologies, adapt our services or release more case studies that’s why you’d better subscribe to our RSS feeds and stay tuned.
We invite you to browse through the various sections of our site and would greatly appreciate to have your feedback and comments.
