Drupal ranked first in web publishing category at CNET Webwares 100 2008 Awards

During April 22-25, 2008 in San Francisco, CNET, the gobal leading IT media annouced the 100 webware winners. Since its last win in 2007, Drupal wins a second time the web publishing category. As Webware 100 2009 just opened its voting page, Drupal is likely to have its 3-series win. Webware top 100 has been launched by CNET in 2007; the concept is to let Webware readers and Internet users around the world elect the best web 2.0 applications classified into different categories. In 2008's top 100 webware, over 1.9 million internet users casted their votes. Drupal, known as a powerful publishing and content management system (CMS), was the web developer's first choice in the web publishing category.

 

As an open source solution, Drupal is improving each day since its debut in 2001; 73 versions (counting major and minor versions) has been released , and Drupal 7 is right now under development. With Drupal, users can add all sorts of content to Web pages through a system of modules; users need simply pick out which site elements they want, and then put them together. Many famous websites are using Drupal, like Yahoo, Sony, AOL.
